The Strokes

The Strokes arrived in New York City in 2001 and single-handedly revived guitar music for a generation. Is This It remains one of the most important debut albums of the past thirty years, and Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr, Nikolai Fraiture and Fab Moretti became the coolest band on the planet almost overnight. Their sound borrowed deliberately from the Velvet Underground and Television, but what they built from those influences was entirely their own: tight, effortless, and loaded with a studied nonchalance that proved impossible to imitate.

The photography from their breakthrough period captures a band at the absolute peak of their cultural moment. Images from the Is This It and Room on Fire era document five young New Yorkers who were rewriting the rules about what rock music could look like and feel like at the turn of the century. These photographs have become definitive records of a pivotal moment in indie rock history.

Behind The Gallery offers a curated selection of The Strokes limited edition photography prints, capturing the band across their career from their earliest shows through to their later records. Each print is produced on museum-quality archival paper, individually numbered and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. Available in a range of sizes, with worldwide shipping from Sydney, Australia.
