Chris Cornell - West Hollywood, 1999
I took this portrait of Chris Cornell during the ‘Euphoria Morning’ era in 1999 on a hotel balcony in West Hollywood. My first ever published photograph was of Chris, taken during his time with Soundgarden, and it will always hold a very special place in my heart, but this shot is equally significant.
I’ve always been struck by the way Chris’s gaze in this image evokes the aura of an old movie star—timeless, enigmatic, and powerful. There is a quiet intensity in his expression that perfectly reflects the introspective nature of his solo work during this period.
