During the ‘Without You I’m Nothing’ tour, I captured Brian as he was getting ready before a show and this image holds a special place in my collection. Taken around 1999, the photo has an

interesting backstory. It was actually the result of what we call a “clip test,” used to check the exposure at the end of a roll of film before processing the entire roll. Fortunately, I managed to keep both sides of the clip test, and later, I scanned and pieced them back together to create this unique image. The process of assembling this shot reminded me of why photography continues to excite me - it’s the unexpected results and happy accidents that make each image truly one-of-a-kind.
