Description
Photographer: Charles Moriarty · 2003 · Brick Lane, East London
Photographed by Charles Moriarty in 2003 on Princelet Street, Brick Lane, East London — on the very day he first met Amy Winehouse — this image became the defining visual portrait of one of music's most extraordinary voices. Selected as the cover of Amy's debut album Frank, the photograph captures a raw, unguarded moment of a young artist standing on the cusp of everything.
"I was trying really hard to create something that was emblematic of a girl I had just met," recalls Moriarty. "An image that captured a piece of her, in real life, that somehow also reflected who she was becoming musically through her lyrics and her voice. That was the day I met Amy, and I have always cherished it."
As we approach the 20th anniversary of the image, Moriarty has released a new signed limited edition fine art print — the first authorised edition of this photograph available to collectors.
Produced as an archival C-type fine art print, personally signed and numbered by Charles Moriarty on the front of each print. Each work is supplied with a certificate of authenticity and a white border accommodating the photographer's signature, embossing, and edition number. All prints are made to order and shipped carefully packaged. Framing consultation available on request.
