Artist Amy Winehouse

Description

Photographer: Charles Moriarty

Image details

Shot by Charles when Amy was 19, before the release of her debut album 'Frank'.

'In the morning Amy and I woke up, and as far as I was concerned we were fucked, we didn’t have it. I’m not even sure if I knew what ‘it’ was, but I was lacking in confidence to begin with and now just grappling with ideas of failure. I remember turning to Amy as she lay curled up under a blanket to say “We need to do something, we’ll shoot it here, what have you got?”. An hour later Amy had a beehive up and we were in the basement of the building, we’d found the launderette, which felt foreign with its industrial sized washers, big enough that Amy could attempt to toss her Gibson into one".

All prints are made to order and supplied carefully packaged.
