Soundgarden

Soundgarden were the heaviest and most musically adventurous band to emerge from Seattle's late 1980s grunge explosion. Kim Thayil's detuned guitar work, Matt Cameron's ferocious and inventive drumming, Ben Shepherd's bass and Chris Cornell's extraordinary four-octave vocal range combined to produce something simultaneously rooted in Black Sabbath-era heavy metal and entirely forward-looking. They brought both the muscle and the intelligence.

Superunknown, released in 1994, is one of the great albums of the decade. Thirteen tracks of ambition, melody and controlled aggression, it debuted at number one on the Billboard chart and remains the definitive document of what Soundgarden could do at their peak. Badmotorfinger before it and Down on the Upside after it are equally important records of a band who never made the same album twice. The photography of Soundgarden in their prime captures a group who were always more than the genre label that followed them around.

Behind The Gallery presents a carefully selected collection of Soundgarden limited edition photography prints, documenting the band across their career. Each print is produced on museum-quality archival paper, individually numbered and supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
