Hole were playing Reading Festival in 1995 and the golden hour sun was showering the stage. In the shot, you can see a tear running down Courtney’s cheek really capturing a moment of raw emotion during what was clearly one of the most challenging times for her.
Despite the vulnerability, there is a powerful presence in her stance, and this image beautifully reflects both her strength and the intensity of that moment.
