They were about to head down to Philly for the night to play a show. I had yet to get a proper group shot of them so I made sure it happened finally. I meet them as they were going to head out. They just lined up against the van and I shot a roll of film. People were coming and going on 8th. We kept it loose. I helped them load some gear up and as about to say good bye, they were like why don’t you come. I thought... Fuck it.. They were playing three sold out shows at the same ballroom they played in ’01 and I went to the soundcheck to shoot them for this. I had them meet me off to the side of the stage. I set up one light and shot them on my Pentax 67. Friends, family and now proper fans. The thing about CB’s was they let anyone play (pure shit). The guys had gotten to the end of their time slot. The crowd kept cheering for an encore, they started to play when the sound guy cut the mics. The place went nuts and The Strokes started trashing the stage. After deciding there was not much to do, Amy and I sat in my cousins’\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003estudio apartment at the Ritz Tower; it was on loan to me from my very kind\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ecousin Dan while he was in California. We had picked up some cheap food and\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ewine from a bodega on Lexington Avenue, and while we sat there (Amy with\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ecurlers in her hair) I decided there was no time like the present and started to\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003etake pictures.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBy now a friend had arrived to say hello, and was the perfect distraction from my lens. In the background some of Amy’s demos from ‘Frank’ played. Amy had come directly from recording with Commissioner Gordon in New Jersey.
